late last week on a rainy morning we met up with the holistic mom's network playgroup (http://www.holisticmoms.org/) for lunch and the usual chaos of the mall play place. pictured above are theo and a favorite friend, maya, whom we see at least once a week at the library and elsewhere out and about. a very funny thing happened on the way out as we passed through scheels, a large sporting good store where there are both a big herky statue and one of cy, the iowa state mascot. we truly have never talked to theo anything negative about iowa state (nor does he understand the whole iowa/iowa state dynamic here in iowa). we have talked to him about how "herky can't talk" and that he just puts his fist in the air to say "go hawks." so theo runs up to the herky statue, pumps a fist in the air, and says "go hawks!" he then promptly scoots down to stand in front of cy, turns to tell me he's going to "tell this guy 'go hawks' too," and stands directly in front of him in a herky pose and says loudly, "go hawks!" i only wished somebody besides just me could have been there to witness the comedy of that...
