it really is a bonus to have a well-connected grandma we learned this week as we joined grandma johnson's 2nd grade class on part of their field trip, which included lunching at union park, a huge and historic park on des moines' north side that has this huge contraption called the "rocket slide" (pics next time, sorry) and a gorgeous carousel, which the PTA had helped them to rent for the time they were there (and we got to have a picnic with grandma and tag along). her students were very, very sweet to theo, walking around holding his hand and playing with him in the sand. really lovely afternoon.
