the mean parents in this family are on a journey trying to make christmas more simple, more meaningful, and more fun--as other parents realize, that's no easy fruitcake to come by. this year we had a WONDERFUL christmas time with many joyful celebrations, and the grandparents graciously responded to our request not to let the presents thing get too too out of hand. with my grandparents in iowa city, we chose to give primarily the gift of time and memories by carving out a weekend to even stay all night at their place. they were amazed at the undertaking this turned out to be when we arrived laden with pack n' plays, booster seats, and all the assorted gear that somehow two little people seem to require! but what fun we had--they still talk about it frequently, and they even seem anxious to let us come destroy their home again soon!
